Panoramic hike to the Spitzmeilen hut by Joni Hedinger
This easy hike to the hut starts and ends on the Maschgenkamm ridge, which you can easily reach by cable car from Unterterzen or Tannenboden. Immerse yourself in the imposing mountain landscape at the beginning of the hike and enjoy the impressive panorama of the Flumserberg region.
The path to the Spitzmeilenhütte is very easy and does not require a higher level of fitness. You will walk through lush flower meadows and cross numerous small mountain streams while keeping the striking peak of the Spitzmeilen in view the whole time. If you are patient and observant, with a little luck you might even spot marmots along the trail.
The absolute highlight and destination of the tour is the Spitzmeilenhütte SAC. This modern hut is charming with beautiful rooms and breathtaking views, making it ideal for a long break or an overnight stay. An insider tip: from the hut, you can walk to the idyllic Madseeli lake directly below the Spitzmeilen in just 20 minutes. A short detour there is an absolute must, and for the very brave, the clear mountain lake offers the perfect opportunity for an ice-cold, refreshing swim!
What makes this so special is the fact that this tour was put together by Swiss photographer Joni Hedinger, who has captured the atmosphere of this landscape perfectly in his pictures. As a mountain photographer, he travels extensively in the Swiss Alps and knows exactly where nature is at its best.
