Practical by conviction: one day in the pharmacy, four days of science

A path that shows how curiosity, openness and humanity make science tangible. Santhosh Neranjan never originally intended to become a pharmacist. Electrical engineering or law would have interested him just as much. But out of curiosity – and also a little out of defiance, after someone had advised him against it – he began studying pharmacy. A decision that had a lasting impact on his career path.

After completing his studies, Santhosh worked for several years in high-street pharmacies, including in Baselland, Oerlikon and on Paradeplatz in Zurich. The daily interaction with people, their questions, concerns and health-related needs were always at the heart of his work. This practical focus remains with him to this day: He continues to work in a pharmacy one day a week, and since August 2025 he has been part of Antistress AG – Burgerstein Vitamine for four days a week.

As a Scientific Advisor, Santhosh supports the company on scientific matters.

He prepares presentations and specialist information, acts as a speaker at training courses, handles specialist enquiries via the hotline in German and English, and contributes his expertise to pharmacovigilance. At the launch of Burgerstein B-Strong, he placed particular emphasis on plant-based ingredients – a topic that interests him both professionally and personally.

Santhosh impresses with his calm, composed manner and his ability to explain even complex topics clearly and concisely. Outside of work, Santhosh has a wide range of interests. He is a passionate cook – everything except baking – undertakes DIY projects such as a self-built

pergola in the garden, and enjoys programming because he is fascinated by logical connections and structured problem-solving. He is teaching himself to play the saxophone and guitar, with jazz providing the musical backdrop. His mind is occupied by topics such as philosophy, faith and behavioural psychology. Having grown up in Graubünden and as the father of two girls, he is currently also the only man in the new building – and brings a special presence to the team with his calm, thoughtful manner.

At Burgerstein Vitamine, we are convinced that science has the greatest impact when it is applied in a way that is understandable, human and practical. This is exactly what Santhosh stands for.
