Swiss family-run businesses
Burgerstein is a Swiss family-run business with many years of experience in developing high-quality products containing micronutrients. Since its foundation, the company has pursued a clear goal: to help people look after their long-term health.
Today, Burgerstein is run by Tanja Zimmermann-Burgerstein, the third generation of the family. Tradition, scientific expertise and trust continue to define the company to this day.

Our history
The history of Burgerstein began in 1972. Dr Lothar Burgerstein, together with his son Uli, founded Antistress AG in Rapperswil – now known for the Burgerstein Vitamins brand.
During this period, he also explored the fundamental principles of orthomolecular medicine, which were shaped, among others, by the two-time Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling. At the heart of this approach lies the realisation that the body works particularly well with substances that occur naturally within the organism and are necessary for its functions.
Working in collaboration with experts, the first formulations were developed, specifically tailored to the body’s nutritional needs. This led to the establishment of a Swiss family-run business based in Rapperswil.

Sustainability and social responsibility are key components of the company’s philosophy.
Together with the organisation myclimate, Burgerstein offsets the CO₂ emissions of the entire company and supports various climate protection projects.
These include, amongst others:
- climate-optimised forest management in Graubünden
- plastic recycling as part of a circular economy in Romania
- efficient cooking systems to protect the rainforest in Kenya
