Our philosophy
We take a holistic approach: working together with athletes and their support network – comprising sports doctors, physiotherapists and other support staff – we consider not only nutrition but also key factors such as age, sporting discipline, training load, recovery, sleep and individual micronutrient status. In this way, we analyse personal requirements and provide targeted support. Thanks to our network and our expertise in sports and nutritional science, we provide personalised, practical advice. We also support athletes during recovery phases or in the event of injuries, in constant consultation with medical specialists. In this way, as one piece of the overall puzzle, we make an important contribution to ensuring that athletes can realise their full potential.
Long-standing partnerships with Swiss sports federations
We work closely with various national sports federations and are active across a range of disciplines. The resulting exchange is central to our work: it enables us to incorporate insights from day-to-day training and competition directly into our advice and product development. One example of this is Burgerstein Sport: this product was developed in consultation with sports doctors and nutritionists and combines scientific findings with practical experience from everyday sporting life.
“There is close collaboration between the doctors of the Swiss-Ski Medical Team and the specialists at Burgerstein Vitamine. Together, we can thus provide our athletes with expert and targeted support using high-quality Burgerstein standard products or even customised supplements from Burgerstein microcare – tailored to the specific situation. We are delighted to have such a reliable partner at our side.” – Dr Walter O. Frey, Chief Medical Officer, Swiss-Ski
Advertising campaign with Swiss Ski – For little heroes and big role models
Together with Swiss Ski, we had the opportunity to organise a special photo shoot in which children and athletes posed together in front of the camera. Under the slogan “For little heroes and big role models”, we captured an authentic glimpse into the interplay between sport, health and generations – all documented in an emotional behind-the-scenes video.
Swiss Tennis – Commitment to grassroots and elite sport
Burgerstein has been a partner of Swiss Tennis since 2015, supporting one of Switzerland’s largest sports associations with around 167,000 active players. The association is committed to the development of tennis – from promoting young talent and training coaches to organising competitions – and strengthens collaboration across the entire Swiss tennis landscape.
“At Swiss Tennis, we promote tennis at all levels – from beginners to professionals. Values such as quality, sustainability and, last but not least, health are of the utmost importance to us. This makes Burgerstein the perfect supplier for us, and one with whom we have now enjoyed a long-standing partnership. We look forward to looking to the future together – with people and their positive development at the heart of everything we do.” – Ralph Weder, Head of Marketing
Swiss Triathlon – Personalised support in endurance sports
Burgerstein is also involved in endurance sports as a partner of Swiss Triathlon. In triathlon – comprising swimming, cycling and running – the balance between exertion and recovery is crucial.
The partnership encompasses various elements – including individual advice from specialists, support for training camps and competitions with selected products, and the sharing of knowledge through lectures and workshops.
The Youth League, in which young athletes aged between 14 and 17 compete across Switzerland and gain valuable competition experience, is given special support as part of the partnership. Burgerstein provides targeted support for young talent and the national squad – with the shared aim of fostering talent in the long term and enabling sporting success.
“Swiss Triathlon is delighted to be working with Burgerstein Vitamine, a key partner in the development of young talent. Thanks to their valuable support, we can continue to provide ideal encouragement and support for Switzerland’s young athletes. We share long-term visions and complement each other, creating synergies that are essential for success. We are very grateful for this support, which strengthens the foundation for a successful future in sport.” – Mattia Gyöngy, Managing Director of Swiss Triathlon
Micronutrients in triathlon: what really matters
Micronutrients in Triathlon: What Really Matters
How do diet and targeted supplementation affect your performance in triathlon? In this interview, association doctor Sibylle Matter Brügger offers fascinating insights and explains what you should be looking out for.
In this interview, you will learn, among other things:
- Which micronutrients are particularly often lacking in triathletes
- Why iron deficiency can significantly impair performance
- What role recovery nutrition plays
Individual micronutrient intake in sport
A central component of our commitment is the individual support of athletes. Because not every body has the same needs. These vary depending on:
• Sport
• Training phase
• Intensity and volume
• Personal circumstances
This personalised approach ensures that recommendations are not based on standardised templates, but are genuinely tailored to the individual, their specific sport and their current training phase. It reflects our core values: we have always stood for the highest quality, sound knowledge and a commitment to health.
Why micronutrients are beneficial for you in sport
Regular exercise offers numerous health benefits, but it also places demands on your body. The more intensively you train, the greater your need for nutrients – both macronutrients and micronutrients. We highlight which micronutrients are particularly relevant and what matters on our ‘Sport’ page.
